Dialog sponsors CR and FC Dialog GSM are sponsoring the CR & FC rugby side this season - the first time they are the sponsors of a private rugby club, although Sri Lanka Army too are being sponsored by Dialog. This mobile communication network's General Manager (Sales and Marketing), Nushad Perera, said that they are keen to continue with the sponsorship in the future and hoped that the club will strike it rich this season and wished them well. Nushad Perera said that they (Dialog GSM) has seen the progress CR has made over the years and that his company was "very close" to the club. He further said: "We (Dialog GSM) will take rugby sponsorship seriously now and try to develop it as we want to encourage new school leavers to join clubs and go on to play at national level too". The President of CR & FC, Chula Dharmadasa, said that he and the club were grateful to Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya (CEO of Dialog GSM) and his team in deciding to sponsor CR's rugby this season, and hoped that CR led by Shamly Nawaz will bring glory to CR this season and also to Dialog GSM and other sponsors (Delmege, Ceylon Cold Stores and Lion Brewery) for the faith they have placed in the club. He disclosed that CR's rugby budget is almost Rs. 4.5 million. Whilst thanking all sponsors, Dharmadasa, hoped that Dialog GSM will continue with the sponsorship in the future too. The Secretary of CR & FC, Jehan Canaga Ratne, disclosed that there is yet a possibility of CR singing on two Fijians for the season from either end May or mid June, but two Australian club players too are also expected to join the club on an exchange programme.
