Mahanayake urges President - PM dialogue The Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, Ven. Rabukwelle Sri Vipassi thera has urged President Chandrika Bandaranaika Kumaratunga and the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to amicably settle the political crisis through sensible dialogue. The Mahanayake, in a special statement on the present political crisis arising from the President's decision to take over the Development Lotteries Board, without consulting the PM has stated that hostile attitudes will not benefit the country, especially at this juncture. The Ven. Sri Vipassi has also said: As a citizen of this country I am deeply concerned about the political crisis and therefore I thought of making a statement. I urge the President and the Prime Minister to negotiate and resolve the problem peacefully for the future progress of the country. It is my bounden duty to express my views to State leaders as they are supposed to take good decisions for the sake of the country. It is their duty to take decisions through peaceful negotiations in the interest of the country. |
