Drager, the lifesaving company by Pelham Juriansz Drager AG Lubeck Germany, with over 100 years of service in breathing technology, supplies fire fighting apparatus for Sri Lanka's Fire Service and the Armed Forces. An introduction to the products was recently given by Wolfgang May. Over 95 per cent of the equipment used by Sri Lanka's Fire Department comes from Drager. Drager is also involved in the handling of gases, in particular hazard protection, and saving lives in medical and industrial emergencies. The company also produces breathalysers, used by the Police to detect alcohol amounts in drivers. The company's mission is the continuous improvement of its quality and environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. It develops and sells products which enable, support and protect human respiration. It is active in the fields of medical technology, safety technology, under-water technology and aviation and aerospace technology. According to Shiran and Dilshan Fernando, Directors of Tess Private Ltd, which represents Drager in the island, Drager items and systems presently used in Sri Lanka are compressed air breathing apparatus for the Fire Department and Navy, detector tubes and portable gas detection instruments for industrial use, Oxygen protection equipment and breathing apparatus for high altitudes, closed circuit diving equipment and decompression chambers for divers. The sales and service organisation, founded in 1889, is now spread throughout the world. It has more than 25 subsidiaries and associate companies and over 8,500 employees. |
