The hot action at the Blue

Two of the members of the KNH Project DJ Harith and DJ Naushad are still active mixing grooves at the popular night club the Blue Elephant to help groovers dance their feet off. Ofcourse the prime mover of this Project DJ Kapila is 'hands full' of administration duties in the F&B department of the Hilton Colombo, but the vibes draws him back to rapport with his chums. Blue Elephant has a compelling fascination all its own and is open from 10 p.m.

Tuesdays through to Saturdays. DJ Harith who has had nine years of experience behind the controls is also the Manager of Blue Elephant for the past two years tells us the Blue has many exciting attractions. "On Tuesdays its a special theme night - a Happy Night, in that the Happy Hour runs throughout the night! On Wednesdays it's our usual Flight Night, Fridays and Saturdays its World Music nights.

But that's not all. Every day from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. it's a Tequila Happy Hour for our patrons and a general Happy Hour from 10 p.m. to 11.30 p.m." informs Harith. Basically a reggae fan DJ Harith when behind the console chooses to spin many a r&b single and also house music to kick off the dancing for the regular groovers. "At the end of the day we finish off with the baila, which is well received by the expatriates" Harith clues us in.

To DJ Naushad mixing grooves will always remain his first love. With a cool twenty years of experience behind him he is proud of the fact that he has always been a club DJ even in his years in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. "Being a Club DJ is kind of up market as compared to mobile DJs and I'm happy I created history by being the DJ to be associated with the opening of My Kind of Place, Chapter One at The Oberoi and The Blue Elephant, Hilton Colombo. Here at the Blue Elephant its another first for me - when I introduced Kwaito music a mix of African and soul beat - no other disco spins this music. It is as popular as the r&b, hip hop, house and tribal we spin for the groovers.

Music has changed a great deal, I miss the music of the earlier years but I guess you have to move with the times" concludes DJ Naushad who runs his own Movie and Music Store at the Capital Mall. Come this weekend catch Harith and Naushad at the Blue.
