Saga of the Sacred Tooth Relic and Kandy Perahera

Relic worship in Buddhism is as old as Buddhism itself. King Asoka of India built stupas enclosing relics of the Buddha and the first stupa in Sri Lanka built by King Devanam Piyatissa enclosing the relics of the Buddha including the right collar bone was Thuparama.
