First 'cashless medical service' launched Eagle Insurance Company has come up with a 'cashless medical service' for the first time in Sri Lanka in association with Medilink International of India. The scheme will pay policyholder's admissible hospitalisation costs subject to certain conditions like pre-authorisation without the policyholder even pulling out his/her wallet. As a result of the Eagle and Medilink alliance, Medilink will handle the entire spectrum of health insurance administration including facilitation of hospital admissions, medical claims management and maintaining a close relationship between the insurer, policyholders and hospitals. Dr Upul Ray, Chairman Medilink, who was described as a "visionary in the field of insurance" by Chandra Jayaratne, Managing Director Eagle Insurance, is not only an eminent personality in the medical field, but has extensive experience in the health insurance sector. Having started Medilink in 1987, he has ensured its growth into one of the biggest names in the health care arena in India. Manjula de Silva, Eagle's General Manager, Corporate Lines, told a media conference that they selected Medilink to implement this 'cashless' scheme out of several short-listed names due to its impressive performance and track record. Explaining the 'cashless' facility, the senior management team of Medilink pointed that they will, on behalf of Eagle, take over the functions of settling admissible bills direct with the hospital so that the policyholders have no financial worry at the time of discharge. Jayaratne said Eagle has begun new relationships with new stakeholders. "Brides are always sought and today we have forged a marriage with Medilink. We have today arrived at a 'Win-Win' situation for all; Eagle Insurance, Medilink and our stakeholders. We have given Medilink possibly a better challenge than they have ever got," he said. (PJ) |
