International, inter-religious peace conference in Colombo by CAREEM HAMEED The World Peace Temple in Chennai, India, will conduct an international inter-religious peace conference in Colombo next month. Head of the Temple Dr. V. G. Santhosam who was here on a peace mission on the invitation of the Sri Lanka Mahabodhi Society told the Sunday Observer that a national committee will be formed to organise the conference under the leadership of the Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thera, Head of the Mahabodhi Society. Dr. Santhosam hailed the role played by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, to find a peaceful solution to the ongoing ethnic issue. He said peace is very essential in the region and it is the duty of all communities to render their fullest co-operation to the Sri Lanka government. The World Peace Temple conducts special prayers for peace in Sri Lanka on a daily basis. |
