Samantha wins silver at USA Junior Olympics

The USATF (United States of America Track and Field) National Junior Olympics was held in Miami, Florida in early August 2003. On August 2, Samantha (age 12) won the Silver Medal in the 800 metres event with a time of 2:24.62. A great achievement for this young Sri Lankan-American athlete who is showing great promise for the future.

Samantha is the daughter of Nayika Ranaweera-Collins and Charles Collins (a former stanford University football player) who live in San Jose, California and sister of an equally gifted sportsman Christopher who at age 15 is a basketball and football player representing his high school.
