Priath Fernando to steer international golf resort Priath Fernando - the veteran golfer and businessman has been appointed as Director/CEO of the prestigious Victoria Golf & Country Resort in a move expected to fast-track the international venue's ambitious development drive. Fernando, the chairman of United Tractor & Equipment Ltd and son of legendary golfer Pin Fernando has been Deputy Chairman of the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, a position earlier held by Ken Balendra. However, in an unusual corporate move, Fernando opted for a more aggressive role in the resort's multi-million dollar expansion and offered himself available for the post of CEO that would put him in the driving seat in steering the resort towards its much-awaited international launch as a premier golfing venue and a resort. "It has been life as usual with UTE in good hands and life has been getting a bit monotonous. In fact, I had quit playing golf as well due to lack of motivation. I think in Victoria I have found just the right challenge to pump my adrenalin. In fact, it has completely transformed my life. I just won my first tournament in a decade," says the businessman cum golfer. The course at Victoria was designed by one of the best English architects of golf courses and offers a real challenge to the ardent golfer in a truly panoramic setting overlooking the Victoria reservoir in Kandy, says the new CEO. |
