Advertising giants gather in Sri Lanka

Phoenix Ogilvy is hosting the Ogilvy Regional Conferences for the first time in Sri Lanka from August 25 - 29. Creative Directors, Accounts Planners and Regional Business Directors from 20 countries across the region will converge for a five-day conference to evaluate strategies, creative concepts and share the latest trends in advertising in the various markets across Asia.

Said Irvin Weerakkody, Chairman Phoenix Ogilvy Pvt. Ltd:

"Other countries now recognize the potential of the Sri Lankan market and are giving it due importance as a market of reckoning in the future. For advertising here it could not have been better. The exposure our professionals will receive on account of this conference is tremendous. Almost each of the 120 foreign participants are considered gurus in their spheres of expertise locally and on the international advertising arena. The Phoenix Ogilvy creative and planning teams will now get to closely interact with each participant and draw from their experience and knowledge."

The conferences comprise three separate sub conferences for account planners, creative directors and regional business directors. The five-day event will kick off with the account planners meet wherein the brand world will be explored.

The Global Brand Community, the team that heads brands that have a global presence, has organized a series of training and development and best practice sessions over the last year and a half at a worldwide level to ensure the mission and role of the group is defined, and that plans are in place to realize them as well. This year, there are regional meetings in North America and Europe scheduled with global account leads in those regions. Between August 28 and 29, a similar session will be held for the Asia Pacific team. The goals of the meeting are making sure regional business directors are equipped to drive growth, be accountable for financial targets, and be informed of some of the latest best practices on 'Ogilvy's global businesses.

The other key objective of the conference is to create an opportunity for engagement with key stakeholders and internal constituents in the region, as well as key clients.
