Corea & Corea present 4x4 Exclusive: Fundraiser for deserving students Sri Sangabo Corea and Vijaya Corea two big names in the entertainment world team up again to present the second Corea & Corea presentation at the BMICH at 6.30 pm on Sunday November 16. After "The Better Mix" the second Corea & Corea presentation is named Four by Four Exclusive described as an extraordinary entertainment extravaganza which comes in the form of four mini concerts capsuled into a blockbuster in entertainment.
According to a media release from the presenters, Sangabo and Vijaya Four by Four Exclusive has been put together with unique features that will be a feast for the eyes and ears as never before seen and heard. This super formula entertainer is organized once again to raise funds for a worthy cause ... to finance scholarships offered to poor intelligent students who failed by a narrow margin to gain entry to the university and cannot try a second time because of the poverty level of their parents. The Gamini Dissanayake Institute of Technology & Vocational Studies (a government approved charity) selects deserving students, teaches them English and trains them in Computer Science and secures employment for these young boys and girls. With a steady income there is also a radical improvement in the quality of life of these families. Despite pressing demands on their time, the presenters have pledged their services to support a cause which they described as 'highly commendable' since it involves the youth of our country - the backbone of our nation. Four by Four Exclusive will feature a unique selection of music, song and dance interspersed in a 165-minute presentation that will appeal to all lovers of music, song and dance. The audience will be treated to country & western, roll n roll, calypso, kaffringna, raggae and demonstration of oriental and western dancing that will be sensational. There will also be the Top Hits that were whistled, hummed and sung during those times. There will be a fantastic display of talent since most of the items have been specially created for Four by Four Exclusive. The presenters who are well-known for promoting local talent have also included a Talent Spot that will turn the spotlight on a duo, trio or foursome who would like to show off their talent, and have the privilege of being introduced to showbiz with no less a person than Sri Lanka's Number One broadcaster and compere, the much sought-after Vijaya Corea doing the honours. The Talent Spot is essentially to discover talent in harmonizing and those who are gifted with this skill are advised to write to Corea & Corea 25A/2 Walauwatte Road, Gangodawila, Nugegoda stating their names, ages and telephone number. After an audition the selected performers will be expected to harmonize one song in Sinhala and another in English. Their rehearsals with the backing group will be arranged. In response to a demand from Sri Lankans living in Canada and USA to bring Four by Four Exclusive to Canada and USA the presenters are working out the possibilities. Although Corea & Corea presentations will not be repeated in keeping with a policy decision the presenters are considering the possibility of taking an adapted version of Four by Four Exclusive across next year. The Board of Directors of the Gamini Dissanayake Foundation has been requested by the public to have tickets available well in advance to enable interested parties in the outstations to purchase their tickets well ahead of time, and this is being done this time. |
