Back home in Sri Lanka after a successful one week gig at the Bouzoukia Night Club/disco at the Sun and Sand Hotel, Dubai, is a happy Dalreen whose performance was sponsored by SriLankan Airlines. Dalreen jetted off on July 23 to Dubai in time for Benjy Ranabahu's birthday celebrations. "My one week special show with Aquarius at the Bouzoukia was tremendous. The band gave me excellent support and they have so much of variety in their music. The club is very popular not only with the Sri Lankans but also with the foreigners living in Dubai. I am so happy for Benjy that the band is such a success there, and I must say thank you to Lal Perera, the Manager in Dubai for all the support. Each night we sang the airlines theme song "We Are Sri Lankan" and received a rousing reception", voiced Dalreen when we met with her, and learnt that her shows were the talk of the town. From Dalreen we heard that Mirage, nine years in Dubai at the same venue, are just great. Fans in Sri Lanka will see them in action in December when they perform in Colombo. The other Sri Lankan bands doing well in Dubai are Dream Team playing at the Ramada and Shean and his band now performing at Quality Inn. Dalreen was inundated with offers to play in Dubai either with a two piece or with a band and she is now considering the offers. Good luck Dalreen! |
