With a literary bent.... Proving that no matter what the hardship, book lovers will always find the funds to indulge their hunger for reading, the Colombo International Book Fair 2003, scheduled to end today, has been attracting huge crowds eager to get their hands on the wide range of literary offerings at a bargain price. An estimated of 30,000 men, women and children have been making tracks to the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre at the BMICH, everyday for the past six days, making this one of the most successful and most visited exhibitions held in Sri Lanka. Mafia tactics by health workers

Hopes of an early end to the ongoing health sector strike faded yesterday as the Health Sector Trade Union Alliance resorting to mafia tactics threatened to extend their strike to the Maharagama Cancer hospital if they do not receive a favourable response to their demands by 7.00 am, tomorrow.

No LTTE build-up in Trinco

The SLMM yesterday confirmed that there was no LTTE build-up in Trincomalee as claimed by the PA and said that the monitors had been granted unlimited access to the areas controlled by the LTTE to carry out patrolling and the monitoring activities.
