Sex scenes on mobile phones by Deepal Warnakulasuriya Mobile phones with digital cameras have become the latest hi-tech tools in the cyber sex trade, with operators using the machine to transmit photographs of women and school girls to unsuspecting phone users. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating the latest cyber sex racket, following complaints from mobile phone users, have discovered that unscrupulous operators were transmitting pictures of school girls often labelling them as 'prostitutes'. CID SP Ravi Vaidyalankara told the Sunday Observer that investigations had revealed that a group involved in the racket were also transmitting pictures of nude women and sex scenes through their mobile phones. SP Vaidyalankara said that digital camera facilities were being abused by some to take pictures of women for their nefarious activities. However, he said that CID will complete investigations and arrest those involved in the racket soon. He also said that sending nude and sex scenes through mobile phones and giving malicious calls are punishable offences. |
