Go fly a kite

A Cobra takes to the air.

Galle Face Green became a sea of heads, while the skies above came alive with over 500 colourful kites at the National Festival of Kites held in the afternoon of Sunday September 14. It was organised by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board and Lions Club of Moratuwa and sponsored by the People's Bank. Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. were the media sponsors.

Lift off for a kite to join some of the others in the large category.

The largest kite category was won by G.M. Prisil Sudath Aponso of Moratuwa and his kite measured 35 ft. x 20 ft. The award for most creative kite was won by H. P. Caldera of Nugegoda. The best slogan for People's Bank Sisu Udana Account was by Leonard Gamage of Moratuwa and Best Kite by a Student in the under 15 years Category by Keshan Sulaksha Wijesekera of Isipathana College, Colombo 5.
