Thamilselvan meets SLMM chief The chief of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission Maj. Gen. Tryggve Tellefsen along with his regional heads in the North and the East will meet LTTE's political wing leader S. P. Thamilselvan today to iron out differences between the two sides. According to SLMM spokesperson Ms. Agnes Bragadottir, the meeting at the LTTE Peace Secretariat in Kilinochchi will be extremely important as all regional political heads of the organisation have been invited to sort out the problems emerged between SLMM and the LTTE in recent months. "The LTTE hierarchy is expected to renew its commitments towards implementing the rules and regulations of the ceasefire. In recent months there is a remarkable improvement in cooperation between LTTE and the SLMM and the permission to visit Wan-Ela camp by the SLMM monitors have also been granted by the LTTE, after a period of three months", she said. According to sources from Kilinochchi the SLMM-LTTE meeting today will also be significant prior to the handing over of the IA counter proposals to the Government in a couple of weeks' time by the LTTE. |
