Hyper Tension in Kandy

Back in Sri Lanka to mix grooves and rap with dancers is DJ Smokey who is looking forward to the festive season, with his team 'Hyper Tension'. The outfit includes DJ's Juliana, Dam and Dana. "We have signed up with Queens Hotel, Kandy for the season and the Hotel has plans for a discotheque soon.

There are other clubs in Kandy who have spoken with me. We do unorthodox rap live on the mix" says DJ Smokey who will be based in Kandy, and hopes to release a Sinhala-English rap techno trance CD in the near future.

DJ Smokey one of the pioneer DJs started off his DJing at the then popular Cloud 7 Disco Night Club Hotel Sapphire in '79 was a mobile DJ at that time, spinning grooves down South before going to Europe where according to him he has been playing in Germany and Greece. Now back at home DJ Smokey and his team Hyper Tension are surely going to be a familiar sight in Kandy.
