'J'pura' Arts Faculty reopens tomorrow

The Arts Faculty of Sri Jayawardhanepura University will be reopened tomorrow, October (13). "All necessary arrangements have been made to reopen the Arts Faculty of the university from tomorrow, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. D.S. Epitawatta told the Sunday Observer. The Management Faculty was reopened last week.

The university was closed temporarily following a clash between two student groups that resulted in widespread damage to university property and injured several people.Meanwhile, members of the Inter-University Student Federation (IUSF) along with other university students met Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa last week at the parliament complex and explained to him that the university issue be taken up with the President and that necessary steps be taken for the removal of Vice-Chancellor Dr. D. S. Epitawatte.

The Opposition Leader told the Sunday Observer that they will discuss the recent crisis at the university and the unemployment issue of undergraduates with Education Minister Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku and Higher Education Minister Kabir Hashim prior to discussing the issue with the President.
