Wisdom, the CIMA specialist by Chanuka Mannapperuma The Wisdom Business Academy (WBA), which claims to be the only Sri Lankan institute specialising in CIMA education, has now increased its number of students to 2300 from the 900 it had at inception. Managing Director WBA T. Soumyraj said they have decided to shift the academy to a more spacious location as they are not in a position to accommodate the increasing number of students. "I want to provide better facilities to students through a separate prayer room, expanding the library and cafeteria and improving other welfare facilities," he said. Explaining the courses offered by them, Soumyraj said the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has three stages - Foundation, Intermediate (Upper and Lower) and Final. The Foundation level has five subjects: Economics for Business, Financial Accounting, Business Mathematics, Management Accounting and Business Law. The Intermediate level has eight subjects: Finance, Financial Reporting, Management Accounting and Performance Managing, Systems and Project Management, Business Taxation, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Decision Making and Organisational Management. The Final level has three subjects: Financial Strategy, Business Strategy and Information Strategy. Each class consists of an equal number of students. The course is of six months duration. "Within a session, lectures are conducted during 4 1/2 months. The balance 1 1/2 months is for revision and can be engaged for oriental studies; three weeks can be allocated for study leave," Soumyraj said. |
