Thilanga to attend two important ICC Board Meetings The next Executive Board Meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the ICC Development International (IDI) Board meeting will be held on 29th and 30th of October 2003 respectively, in Barbados, West Indies. Thilanga Sumathipala, President of Sri Lanka Cricket will be attending both these meetings representing Sri Lanka. Many key decisions are expected to be made during these meetings pertaining to the global development of cricket which will have a direct impact on Sri Lanka Cricket. These meetings will be very important to Sri Lanka as it follows the visit of the ICC President Ehsan Mani and CEO Malcolm Speed to Sri Lanka in September this year. Cricket Board President Sumathipala proposes to address the need for tours to Sri Lanka beyond 2004 and also the funding and the availability of expertise for cricket development activities in the island in relation to the implementation of the 5 year plan that Sri Lanka Cricket has put in place. Mr. Sumathipala is confident that the outcome of these meetings will be highly beneficial to the future of cricket in Sri Lanka. |
