Fingara takes 'Bowling' to mercantile sector Bowling fans cannot have it better with Fingara Town & Country Club (FTCC) ready to bowl 'em over. Fingara, situated at Old Kesbewa Road, Nugegoda will become the second club in Sri Lanka, after Y@K Bowling Centre to introduce bowling with the first ever Mercantile Bowling Competition from November 10 to 15. Already, Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation, Aitken Spence, The Phone Company, Yalta, Silkot Trading have confirmed their participation. Announcing the tournament details, Manager Athula Nanayakkara said that some 50 teams from the Mercantile sector would be participating. "It is breaking new ground in bowling by our attracting the white collar mercantile sector," said Nanayakkara who added that from the second round the tournament, for both men and women, would be drawn into two groups - 'A' and 'B' from which the finalists will be found. A team would consist of three members (men/women) with one company entitled to field any number of teams with a registration fee of Rs. 1,500 per team. The club, formed recently with exclusive membership categories, caters to every recreational need from indoor and outdoor games such as swimming, badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis, cricket nets, pool parlour, golf putting and is equipped with an aerobics centre, video arcade, kids play area and a modern gymnasium.
