Anura Rohana fails to qualify for Macao Open by LAL GUNESEKERA Sri Lanka's professional golfer, Anura Rohana, failed by just two shots to qualify for the Macao Open staged at the Macau Golf Club Course last week. This was an Asian PGA Tour event where the prize money was US dollars 250,000. Speaking to the Sunday Observer, Rohana, said that he just could not control his shots due to the strong winds as the course was just near the sea. He is now scheduled to leave for India to play in yet another Asian PGA event - Hero Honda Masters at Delhi, which is an US dollars 300,000 tournament, the Volvo China Open in Shanghai from November 13 to 16 (prize money US dollars 500,000), Acer Taiwan Open from November 20 to 23 (prize money of US dollars 300,000) and Omega Hong Kong Open from December 4 to 7 (prize money worth US dollars 700,000). Earlier, rohana, fared quite well on the Hero Honda Golf Tour in India where he was 9th at the Hero Honda Open in Bangalore and finishing 9th again at the Kashmir Open in Srinigar, though missing the "cut" at the TNGF Open in Chennai. He was also 14th at the Royal Challenge Indian Open in Delhi and 42nd at the Myanmar Open in Yangon, though failing to make the "cut" at both the Thailand Open and Qatar Masters. |
