Nimal Vasantha Piyadasa became the unbeaten champion at the All-Island Senior Citizens Scrabble Tournament with wins in all fives that she played.

This tournament held for the fifth successive year was held at Colombo Hilton Hotel and Mrs. Piyadasa was the first member of the organising association to win the championship event.
