Premadasa clinches title, but Deheragoda wins race by Pelham Juriansz It was a hot and sultry day at Katukurunda last Sunday when the journalists covering the McFoil Championship SLARDAR rally made their way to Katukurunda. It was a rib tickling affair when Aravinda Premadasa though finishing second in the main races won the coveted McFoil championship conducted by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders(SLARDAR) was able to clinch the title for the Championships by beating arch rival Dinesh Deheragoda at the Sunday's rally at Katukurunda. The race between Deheragoda and Premadasa was intense but it was the more experienced Deheragoda who won both events. Premadasa was easily in the lead till the final stages but Deheragoda was able to win both races. Dinesh kept his reserves for the final laps and was able to win through with sheer determination. Premadasa's Caltex team, however won through the team event with team member Damien Goonatilleke clinching the overall event for motorbikes. |
