Match cancelled due to rain Napping, not snapping the action: No...no...Cricket fans, this is only last week’s picture of the match that never was played due to bad weather. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that the weather will allow today’s final one-day encounter between the Sri Lankan Lions and the British Lions to be played. Photographer Saman Mendis snapped this video camera operator taking a nap while the wicket at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, remained covered due to the rain last Thursday. The match was finally cancelled.
PM to take charge of peace process

The Committee of National Consensus, after a marathon discussion late into Friday night came to a mutual agreement that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should take charge of the peace process and that the peace talks should proceed without any further delays.

Working arrangement with UNF :

Firm assurance from President

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had been very positive about the ongoing discussions between Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and herself and had said that they will be able to come to a working arrangement with the UNF government on major issues which include peace, law and order and free media by December 15.
