Taking wing today to Dubai are the Golden Clef Award 2002 winners the trio Aanjalie and the Rhythm Knights to perform at the much awaited Sri Lanka Lions Dance tomorrow. Aanjalie who is looking forward to the event tells us she is happy to meet up with her fans in Dubai at the dance which will be held at the Renaissance Hotel. A songbird with a gift of a lovely voice well recognised for her soul singing and an elastic repertoire that stretches to take in successfully the songs and hits of the past twenty five years, Aanjalie headed her group in '93 and since then has not looked back. The other members of the Trio are guitarist vocalist Lakmal Peiris who led the band Romance for five years. The band played the Southern circuit and was also featured at the Citadell, Kandy. He moved on to join Aanjalie two years ago and enjoys playing and singing her type of repertoire. He is also keen on developing his career in music. Nilantha Nimalasiri, keyboardist/vocalist with a Visharada Classical background and joining Aanjalie three years ago, was his first experience into the Western music scene. He finds it all the more interesting and hopes he could make a worthy contribution to the Western music industry. |
