Saatchi and Saatchi here soon

Saatchi and Saatchi (S&S), one of the most creative advertising agencies in the world, has formed a strategic alliance with Soma Ahangama Associates (Pvt) Ltd., a leading independent advertising agency in Sri Lanka.

Soma Ahangama Associates has over two decades of experience and has been behind some of the most successful brands in the market especially in the financial sphere. It has a wide portfolio of clients including Hatton National Bank, Metropolitan Group, Lanka Orix Leasing Company group, Lanka Tiles, Jinasena, Phoenix Ventures, Hayleys and HNB Assurance. Infact, five of its clients are within the D&B Sri Lanka Top 100.

The agency is now a member of the Saatchi and Saatchi Worldwide network and is in the process of inducting the organisation in the Saatchi way.

The new entity, Saatchi and Saatchi Sri Lanka, will be formally launched in early 2004. The new alliance, which has brought together the synergies of global expertise and local knowledge, will bring a new dimension to communications in Sri Lanka.

As a member of the publicly quoted Publicis Groupe - one of the largest communications groups in the world - Saatchi and Saatchi's growing network comprising 138 offices in 82 countries, headquartered in New York, has made it one of the world's most successful "creative hotshops". The campaign that propelled Margaret Thatcher into the Prime Minister's seat in the UK and a classic television spot for British Airways are some of its outstanding work.

The company claims to have won more awards than any other agency at the Cannes Festival 2002 and was chosen as the 'Global Agency Network of the Year 2002' by the US advertising trade magazine Advertising Age while Britain's Campaign magazine declared it as 'Asia's Number One Creative Agency.

Saatchi and Saatchi's worldwide CEO, Kevin Roberts said: "Lovemarks are the charismatic brands people love and fiercely protect. Lovemarks are super evolved brands". The adroit handling and guardianship of such Lovemarks has enabled S&S to produce some of the most creative and relevant advertising in the world.

A key element of the agency's outlook lies in producing relevant advertising. Managing Director, Soma Ahangama Associates, Dushantha Ahangama said all advertising produced by S&S will not only be driven by great ideas, but ideas that will address and appeal to Sri Lankan people, their culture, emotions, hopes and aspirations; advertising that makes the best use of the local idioms and sensibilities.

Even though the agreement with Saatchi and Saatchi is in effect, the Colombo office is already gearing for the launch in 2004 with major training programmes to enhance the skills of the agency's staff to introduce the S&S culture.
