The last rites of the Most Venerable Gangodawila Soma Thera, Chief Incumbent of Victoria Viharaya, Australia and pioneer of the Jana Vijaya movement will take place on Sunday December 21, at the Henry Pedris Park, Thimbirigasyaya.

The remains of the prelate will be flown to Colombo from Russia on Wednesday, December 17.

A special committee headed by Ven. Trincomalee Ananda Anunayaka Thera has been set up to make the funeral arrangements.

Ven. Soma Thera passed away in St. Petersburg,

Russia, after he underwent two emergency operations, following a heart attack.

The Thera was in Russia on an invitation by the Russian government to accept an honorary doctorate. He was 53, at his death.
