Project to raise funds for film industry Cine Star Foundation, a new organisation formed by the film artistes will come out with their maiden project to raise funds to help those involved in the film industry. Film Star turned politician Ravindra Randeniya said that the new Foundation filled a long felt need and added saying that it was a big achievement in itself to get the artistes themselves involved in forming a Foundation to look after their own welfare." The Cine Tharu Rathriya" , the musical concert hopes to raise around Rs.two milion which will help to pay as premium for the life and health insurance cover for about 350 members", he said. Film star Yashodha Wimaladharma told the media that they decided to stage "Cine Tharu Rathriya", a musical fiesta on December 16 at the BMICH, Colombo and the event would also bring the nostalgic memories of the 54 year old Sinhala film industry by the artistes at intervals during the two our long concert to make it memorable and share a new experience with the Sri Lankan audience. She added that the Show will primarily feature popular songs,dance and stunts of the local films across over half a decade. Over 100 men and women are expected to perform giving a flavour of the times gone by and bring nostalgic memories of the past. The script for the event will be by Banduala Nanayakkarawasam with music provided by Rohana Weerasinghe. During the media conference at the Russian Centre in Colombo, a new website www.cinestar.lk was launched by Film Corporation Chairman Jayantha Dharmadasa. The website will be a boon to the industry and to the film enthusiast world-over showing keen interest in the Sinhala film industry. |
