Linea Aqua plans bigger splash Linea Aqua (Pvt) Ltd will invest four million US dollars to expand its plant at Giridara, Kapugoda, bringing the company's total investment to US$ 13 million. The agreement was signed between Linea Aqua and the Board of Investment recently. It will result in a 50 per cent increase in the company's present production capacity while also creating an additional 600 jobs on project completion by March 2004, bringing the total employment to over 1800. Linea Aqua, a joint venture between MAS Holdings, Speedo International (UK) and Brandot International Ltd (USA), is a specialist manufacturer of swimwear, from top end competition suits to designer fashion products. Existing customers include world renowned giants such as Speedo, Victoria's Secret and Next. The company plans to increase production for its existing customers and add two to three top end swimwear names to its portfolio, following the expansion. Linea Aqua senior officials stated that the company's main competition came from China and Thailand, and that the competitive edge revolved around a high emphasis on quality, delivery time and the ability to provide the customer with a complete design to delivery package. Officials further said that the company's primary focus was its swimwear 'heritage', but that it would balance the seasonal nature of the product, with fitness and aerobic wear as well in the future. |
