Ruhunu Motor Rally ends today by A.W. GUNAWARDHANA Matara Central Corr Ruhunu Motor Rally - that's a journey extending to 325 kilometres, covering the three districts of Matara, Hambantota and Galle started off yesterday around 6 p.m. from Kotuwegoda bus stand (Matara) and is expected to finish early this morning at a point in the vicinity of clock tower in Nupe (Matara). At a press conference held regarding the rally, Ruhunu Motor Sports Club President Rajpal Samarasinghe said that there should be some entertaining events as motor racing events have caught on with the enthusiasts here in Sri Lanka. The others associated with the press conference were: Vice-President Wasantha Dheerasekera, Secretary Samantha Premaratne and Executive Committee Member Najibdeen of Ruhunu Motor Sports Club The events that were being held: 1. Cars (petrol) Group "A" and Group 'M' upto and including 2080cc (excluding turbo super-charged). 2. Cars (Diesel) - Group 'A' and Group 'M' upto and including 3,500 cc (excluding turbo and super-charged). 3. Jeeps and Cabs (Petrol) Group '11' and '12' upto and including 2,080 cc (excluding turbo super-charged). 4. Jeeps and Cabs (Diesel) Group 11 and 12 upto and including 4,200 cc (excluding Super-Charged) and crew Cabs; Upto and including 2,500 cc Super-Charged. |
