Connaissance invest Rs 8 million for Warichchi By Chanuka Mannapperuma The romance of nature, the revelation of culture 'Warichchi'- Eco Lodges, a novel concept in travel and tourism has been added to the Culture club resort,Dambulla. Ayurvedic Therapeutic Treatment Centre situated at the 'Village in the jungle' was opened recently by Dr.Arthur C.Clarke. Overlooking the Kandalama wewa and the mountains, Warichchi built with an investment of over Rs.8 million consist of 12 cottages ,'Wewe Kade' and 'restaurant' the 'Panchakarma' treatment centre as well as cultivations of vegetables and herbs common to the area. Chairman,Connaissance Ltd Chandra Wickramasinghe said, "earlier tourists were only attracted to the beautiful beaches and the sun ,but now, they are more eco friendly and like to live with nature." The most striking feature at the Ayurvedic Centre is that all herbs used in the treatment are picked from the Warichchi herbal garden. According to the chairman, professionally trained staff will be in service at this Ayurvedic Eco Lodges and treatments will be monitored under the care of qualified Ayurvedic Consultants. Another attractive item is 'Gal Oruwa' used for oil baths made of natural rock. The Centre has 6 therapy rooms, 6 air condition rooms and 5 non airconditioned rooms. Among the special features the eco lodges offers are bird watching,cycling,meditation, hiking and jungle trekking,a vegetarian restaurant and nature walks. Among them luxury chalets cottages will be an outstanding feature. Group Finance Director Connaissance Ltd Nimal Perera said that they will launch another project with an investment of Rs 150 million. Under this project 20 chalets will be built at property adjoining Hotel Culture Club Dambulla."We are confident that we can recover investment by 2005," he said. |
