Kani Lanka Resort and Spa : Maldivian investment in Lanka's hotel industry

Kani Lanka Resort & Spa is a tropical paradise situated in Kalutara, on the south west coast of Sri Lanka. The Resort is nestled in the estuary, where the majestic Kalu Ganga meets the vast Indian Ocean, on 36 acres of coconut groves.

The resort has 99 superior rooms and 6 junior suites which have spectacular views of the sea, river and garden with private balconies. The two restaurants at the resort offer daily buffets with theme nights and the a la carte restaurant serving a wide variety of cuisine, with exotic dishes.

The resort is owned and operated by CypreaLanka Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Cyprea Group in Maldives. An investment of over Sri Lankan Rupees 150 million has been spent on the soft refurbishment project which was allocated to upgrade the rooms to a superior category, restaurants, bars, conference hall and the public areas of the resort. In addition Cyprea group has also invested over Sri Lankan Rupees 15 million to preserve the beach front of Kani Lanka which has resulted in a perfect beach.

CypreaLanka together with the renowned Serena Spas has also invested on a spa project which is in full operation now. The Serena Spa at Kani Lanka, situated by the river, offers treatments which are specially developed to suit the purpose of relaxation for body and mind.

An exotic menu of ayurveda inspired treatments is provided by professional Indian therapists using authentic oils and products in a pampering peaceful spa environment. In addition to the treatment, Kani Lanka Spa consists of a sauna steam room, Jacuzzi and a cold water pool. The Kani Lanka Spa managed by "Serena Spa's" operates in over 15 locations and is well known for their inspired treatment.

The fine architecture of this resort was by renowned Architect Jeffry Bawa. This 3 Star-plus resort also boasts a fully equipped water sports centre which offers a wide variety of sports from jet skiing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing and wind surfing to deep-sea fishing with modern sports equipment for the adventurous and energetic tourist.

The Kani Lanka water sports centre is operated by Lanka Sportsreisen who are specialised in water sports activities in Sri Lanka with well trained staff and instructors and operates country-wide apart from their tour operation.

Jayamal Tourist Resort : popular stop-over for tourists on Kandy road

Jayamal Tourist Resort, Yakkala celebrated its 20th anniversary recently. It is an ideal stop-over for tourists travelling between Colombo and Kandy and Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and other tourists attractions in the Cultural Triangle.

The resort has 20 rooms, some of which are air conditioned, and offers all modern facilities to the discerning traveller. Built on 3 1/2 acres of land at Yakkala, in close proximity to the Colombo/Kandy highway the resort is managed by Monty Kohagoda Hotel Management Services.

Star Light Hotel, Talpe, Unawatuna has been fully refurbished in time for the Winter season, Chairman, Susil Asoka said. This upmarket star class hotel has 14 luxury rooms, including a modern suite. All rooms are equipped with modern facilities, including A/C mini bar, satellite TV, fan, telephone with IDD facilities and attached bath, with hot/cold water.

Star Light Hotel stands at a most scenic location at Talpe overlooking Sri Lanka's most scenic Unawatuna beach. It is located eight km. from Galle, on the Galle Matara highway.
