SLANA calendars for fighting drug menace The Sri Lanka Anti Narcotics Association (SLANA) a key resource in the country's fight against drug abuse has brought out its calendars for 2004 featuring stunning photographs that capture the very essence of Sri Lanka and the diversity of the people. Every photograph narrates a story all on its own. Sri Lanka has an estimated 100,000 drug addicts, who spend Rs. 5 billion per year to sustain their drug needs. SLANA believes that an informed public is the nation's best defence against drug abuse and mobilises the community through national events such as the National Health Run, and educates the public through workshops and by building life skills. SLANA also provides technical assistance in implementing drug abuse prevention and human resource development activities, to business, government and social development organizations. SLANA also has a Mobile Resource Centre, a versatile and self-contained unit that is outfitted with necessary aids used for drug awareness and drug abuse prevention programmes along with introducing life skills development for youth and workers. The Resource Centre has been to schools, tourist spots and a shopping mall presenting and providing information on drug awareness. In order to sustain and develop these activities we have set-up an in-house merchandising unit that prints calendars, among other things. This calendar is an ideal (Corporate) gift for the season. All purchases made from SLANA will be channelled to making Sri Lanka safe from the ill effects of drug abuse and empowering the people. Join us fight drugs and celebrate peace.
