Sri Lanka skipper Tillekeratne slams 119 not out for Western Province

Sri Lankan Skipper Hashan Tillkeratne captaining Western Province struck a resourceful unbeaten century (119) to help his side Western Province to reach 317 for 9 at the end of the first day of their Inter-Provincial cricket match against North Central Province at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Tillekeratne batting at number five occupied the crease till the end of the day, facing 241 balls and reached the boundary on 14 occasions. He provided the backbone of the batting being involved in four useful partnerships. He added 64 runs for the fourth wicket with Russell Arnold and a further 55 runs for the fifth wicket with Romesh Kaluwitharana and 87 for the seventh wicket with Dinusha Fernando.

Tillekeratne further went onto frustrate the NCP team adding 41 with Dharshana Gamage (13) for the ninth wicket before Gamage was bowled by T.M.Dilshan in the last ball of the day.

Western Province 317 for 9 in 90 overs.( Pradeep Hewage 30, Russel Arnold 36, Hashan Tillkeratne 119 not out, Romesh Kaluwitharana 38, Dinusha Fernando 36, Dharshana Gamage 13, Nandika Ranjith 2 for 47, Kumara Dharmasena 2 for 69).
