Gold for Parakrama in javelin throw

Parakrama Manamperi won the javelin throw event in the 55 to 59 age group at the 9th Health Pack Masters Games and thereby the Gold Medal in Canberra, Australia last month.

Besides winning the Gold Medal, Parakrama also won the Silver Medal in shot putt and bronze medal in discus throw and hammer throw.

That was not all, Prakrama's sister Chandra Yatawara participating in the 50 to 55 age group, won the bronze medal in the women's javelin throw.

An old boy of St. Thomas' College Matale, Parakrama, was a former Headquarters Inspector in Kandy. Last year, he participated at the 12th Asian Masters Games in Darlian city in China and won Bronze medals in shot putt, discus throw and hammer throw and javelin throw.
