Call to sue Bedi and Co!

An organisation that calls itself 'Sri Lanka Cricket Lovers Club' established in 1995 has taken up the case of vilification of Sri Lanka's ace spin bowler Muttiah Muralitharan by a group headed by former Indian spinner Bishen Bedi.

The organisation's Secretary General Anton Jayasuriya has alerted President's Counsel Eardley Perera about the article that appeared in the 'Daily News' of December 25 where Bedi has branded Murali a 'burglar, a thief, a dacoit'.

Addressing Eardley Perera, Jayasuriya says: "We are requesting you, on behalf of Sri Lankan Cricket Lovers Club, to take legal action to preserve the good name of our spin bowler. As this is an international scandal, may we request you to sue the offenders, singly and severally, for not less than US dollars one million each."
