Janashakthi hits the road with 'Full Option'

Janashakthi Insurance Co Ltd. (JICL) launched its latest motor insurance policy last week. The new scheme 'Janaratha Full Option' comes with many unique features, said JICL Assistant General Manager, Ravi Liyanage.

He said that JICL claims 20 per cent of the country's motor insurance market.

The motor insurance industry faces the common problem of getting police reports quickly in the event of an accident. This results in a delay in processing the claim by insurance companies. Under this scheme, JICL will obtain the police report on behalf of the customer.

This scheme is unique, he said, as it covers many benefits rather than just post-accident cover.

It will facilitate the owner or motorist to obtain information about car dealers and car parts and even to organise the towing of a vehicle if a breakdown occurs and get discounts for parts, even without meeting an accident.

The company's 24-hour call centre would actively coordinate with field staff to get on-sight approval of a claim after an accident.

Liyanage, explaining the insurance policy, said that if any hospitalisation results from an accident, the inmates in the vehicle will be paid hospitalisation bills up to Rs 50,000. If ICU treatment is needed, they will be paid up to Rs 100,000.

He said that in the event more than four days are needed to indemnify the accident, the company would give an on-sight approval to the policy holder with two options - either to replace with another vehicle or to obtain Rs 1500 cash per day up to 10 days.

Liyanage also said that the company would use latest technology such as digital cameras and IT to assess the damage on the spot.

He said that giving cash on the spot is not approved due to the risks attached to the policy holder and to avoid irregularities.

"Where public transport is concerned, we offer a Rs 100,000 death benefit after a fatal accident," he added.

The company's call centre will work as a total service centre for the benefit of policyholders.
