Unilever Ceylon grows by 33% in 2 years

The past year has been a very special year for Unilever Ceylon and the Sales Conference was no different. Unilever Chairman Ehsan Malik stated that the company has achieved the highest growth in Asia growing the business in the last 2 years.

The company achieved Rs. 12 billion in turnover from secondary sales and is gearing to achieve a Rs. 14 billion turnover in 2004, stated the General Trade Manager Mr. Aruna Mawilmada, at the Annual Sales Conference.Unilever's Channels and Customer Development Director Mr. Salim Azim emphasised on teamwork as being the key factor in achieving double digit growth for the second consecutive time.Amal Cabraal the company Brands Director said that the Rs. 14 billion target would offer new opportunities and challenges for the Unilever sales network comprising of sales representatives, merchandisers and distributors, whose outstanding contribution were recognised during the conference.

The Best Distributor was awarded to N.H.G. Hinniappuhamy and Sons (Pvt.) Ltd.The Best Territorial Development Officer award went to Saminda Sumanaratne.

The Best Distributor Sales Representative was Shantha Liyanagedara.

The Best Merchandiser was Krishantha Kumara. The company's growth is due to the combined effort of all individuals in the company. The Brand Teams now renamed Brand Boards is acknowledged as best practise system throughout Unilever globally. The joint collaboration of the Unions and Management has contributed immensely to this growth.

G'3 the new initiative launched this year by the company succeeds BIG which stood for Business and Individuals for Growth.

G'3 will grow the company to even greater heights. "By growing our People and our Community we will grow our Brands, by growing all we will raise growth to the power of three" stated Malik.

The company's deeper involvement with the community has reaped rich dividends.

This has prompted Unilever to take the strategy forward with greater vigour in 2004.
