A business model to empower women

At the Janet LifeStyle launch: Janet Balasuriya (2nd from L) presents a catalogue to leading fashion model Tanya Reimers, who is among the first to start her own business as a Janet LifeStyle Adviser. Shereen Fernando, Director Salons (L) and Carina Jayawardena, Director Marketing, look on.

The Janet Group has launched 'Janet LifeStyle', a new and innovative business model offering new opportunities for women across the country to gain financial independence by setting up their own businesses, working at their own convenience and enjoying what they do.

"We want to share our award -winning entrepreneurial success with all the women of Sri Lanka," said Janet Balasuriya, Chairperson, Janet Group. Balasuriya, an acclaimed woman entrepreneur, has reached the pinnacle of success in the field of herbal health and beauty care - in Sri Lanka and abroad. Her entrepreneurial success was further recognised last year when she was among the first Lankan women to be named 'Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World' by the Star Group of USA.

Women can set up their own businesses as Janet LifeStyle advisers, promoting the international Janet LifeStyle brands of health, beauty, fragrance, fashion and style to friends and colleagues. The investment-free business model includes free comprehensive product knowledge and sales training. "It is convenient to consumers as well as they can select products and get advice in their own homes," Balasuriya said.

Successful 'Janet LifeStyle Advisers' can earn over Rs. 100,000 yearly, free salon visits, products for themselves and a monthly cash bonus. A grand prize of a shopping spree to Singapore awaits the most successful 'Janet LifeStyle Adviser' at the end of the first year. In the first phase, the number of advisers will be limited to 1,000 to maintain the exclusivity of the concept and maximise the earning potential of the women.

The business model has already been very successful in Australia and the Netherlands. It will be introduced in India later this year, followed by launches in all other international markets in which Janet currently operates.

Janet is said to be the market leader in both herbal beauty care and colour cosmetics. Its range of Ayurvedic medicines, herbal beauty care, colour cosmetics, health foods and baby products are available in more than 12 countries including Australia, France, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, Japan, India and Hong Kong.

It is one of the few companies offering a '100 per cent Satisfaction Guarantee' of the quality and performance of its products.

If a consumer is not satisfied with a product, Janet guarantees to exchange it or refund the full purchase price.
