Success story of a young director

A keen ruggerite, he also captained the junior rugby team. In addition, he was a prefect in school. " I enjoyed my school days very much as my mum didn't pursuade me to do anything, except to encourage me to do whatever I liked. I sat for the GCE (A/L) Examination in the mathematics/science? Stream. Since he was underage by one year, he had the option of representing the college senior rugby team before he left school. Career After completing his studies, he joined Earnst & Young as a trainee Audit clerk for an year. My Manager Arjuna encouraged me to sit simultaneously for both the accountancy exams CIMA and ICASL. Aloysius had the distinction of being placed second in the island for part one of ICASL while he secured the first place when he sat for the second part of the exam. he also came first in the island when he sat for the stage two of the CIMA. " As a result I was awarded a scholarship to continue my studies but I found it easy to do so alone because I wanted to continue my sports and study leisurely.". However a knee injury ended my sports career but on the whole, sports have taught me a lot about life, and this was the time I found my wife. Turning Point "After successfully completing my exams, I joined an American company called GT Telecom a subsidiary of Lanka Bell, as the Regional Finance Manager." He oversaw operations of both India and Sri Lanka for an Year, before he moved to Lanka Bell, as an Engineer. Once the restructure was completed at Lanka Bell, he was appointed as the Manager Finance. His next stint was at Coats Viola where he worked at its clothing division for four months. "I was the only employee there and I travelled frequently to UK setting up the company while operating from home. "I joined the company as Group Finance Manager and Kevin Finn was my mentor. After the company was re-structured I was appointed to the Board of Directors at the tender age of 26." Alpha Airports Group At present, he works for this group as the commercial Director for Asia. Aloysius sits in the board of directors of four companies in the region under the Alpha Airports Group, including Orient Lanka. This group is involved in catering and duty free business at airlines and duty free complexes. "My boss Paul Topping has been a source of inspiration since joining the company when I was only 28 years old. Future "I am happy with what I am. I would like to contribute something to sports and also climb the corporate ladder, but my new born little son has changed our world." Advice "Work hard and be a rounded person, do everything and live your life by the day."
