HNB's new corporate identity heralds a bonanza for customers!

The dawning of 2004 saw Hatton National Bank (HNB) change to a whole new corporate identity, with blue and gold - the colours of royalty - predominant in the new logo, signifying a more focused and privileged place for the customer in the bank.

The pledge that followed this was three-fold: to open the door of opportunity wider, to accelerate processes that have helped Sri Lankans progress in life and an emphatic underlining of commitment to increase the outreach of the bank's considerable influence and penchant for innovation to bring even more benefits to account holders - from all walks of life.

A spokesman for the bank added "HNB is now ready to make good this promise by not just giving customers a product, but adding much more value to it - a trend that extends to savings, home loans, pawning, credit cards or leasing our way of keeping our pledge of a new world of opportunity."

The bank also substantiated this with a broad outline of their prize plans. There is, for instance, HNB's Pathum Vimana. The bank lays special emphasis on the fact that 'Pathum Vimana' is not a lottery. It remains true to the original thinking behind it - to be an easier way for thousands to graduate to a better lifestyle, by offering more chances to win, to more people in more places.

Pathum Vimana 2004 comprises a weekly draw for twenty HNB credit cards stacked with Rs. 10,000/- pre-paid! - and that's just for starters! There is also a branch-based Draw with prizes of a refrigerator, a washing machine, five gift vouchers for Rs. 5,000 each, five gas cookers and 25 wristwatches - on offer at every branch and there are some 139 branches.

This is followed by the 'Mid-Year Regional Draw' with prizes of nine Maruti cars - one for each of the nine regions - and a total of 18 refrigerators, 45 mobile 'phones valued at Rs. 10,000/- each and no less than 450 wrist-watches.

The Grand Draw at the end of the year lives up to its name with the first prize of a luxury house valued at Rs. 5 million with an option for cash, a second prize of another luxury item a Hyundai Santa Fe, 10 return air tickets to London which are valued at Rs. 75,000 each, 100 mobile 'phones each worth Rs. 25,000/- and the cash option and 1,000 gift vouchers valued at Rs. 10,000/- each! Eligibility to participate hinges on simple requirements - Rs. 10,000/- in a Savings or a Singithi account or Rs 5,000/- in a Current account for a minimum period of one calendar month before the respective draws. This time, existing Silverline accounts with balances of Rs. 10,000/- are eligible to participate too.

There is sleek Mercedes Benz up for grabs in a special draw: The Premium Draw. Eligibility is the maintaining of a balance of Rs. 100,000/- in a Savings Account or Rs. 50,000/- in a Current Account. Once again, existing Silverline accounts with balances of Rs. 10,000/- too, are eligible to participate.

HNB SHANTHI housing loans has something very special too. Open to existing Shanthi customers and those who obtain Shanthi loans during 2004, a superbly formulated scheme involves Quarterly draws and a Year-End Draw. The first prize in the former reduces the monthly instalment by 50%- with a provisi: the loan amount must be up to maximum of Rs 1.5 million.

The second prize reduces the loan amounts of five customers by Rs. 100,000/- The Year-End Draw's first prize writes off the Shanthi loan -up to a maximum of Rs. 3 - million and also includes ten consolation prizes of furniture to the value of Rs. 100,000/- and ten more of HNB credit cards with a pre-paid value of Rs. 50,000/-.

HNB Pawning facilities, with the lowst interest rates and highest payment among other advantages has for long been the silverlining for many people in difficult circumstances.

It is now a gold mine! Now a coupon enters the customer in quarterly draws. If the transaction is more than Rs. 10,000/- 100 lucky people will win a gold coin each. For a pawning transaction in excess of Rs. 25,000/- the winner will take away one kilo of solid gold! The Midas touch - without the downside! The scheme becomes operational in February and goes on till December 2004. HNB Leasing follows suit - Quarterly Draws and a Grand Draw. The winner of the first prize in a Quaraterly Draw will get a million rupees waived off the outstanding balance while 50 others can opt for a mobile 'phone worth Rs. 15,000/- or the cash.

The Grand Draw's first prize will be the waiver of up to Rs. 2.5 million of the outstanding, while 10 lessees' outstanding will be less by Rs. 100,000/-.

HNB also adds value to the world's favourite currency - plastic money. The HNB Credit Card - affinity cards included - prize plan appropriately, titled Royalty Points awards one point for every Rs. 100/- spent.

Additional points will be awarded if purchases are made at specific outlets. All of which are redeemable when points accumulated total 300.

This total also enters the holder inquarterly draws and a Grand Draw. Prizes in the Quarterly Draw comprise a mobile camera phone, a return air ticket to Singapore, 3 prizes of Palm Tops, 5 pocket TVs - while 10 customers will have their interest due waived. The prize in the Grand Draw? A Mercedes Benz! A senior management official concluded, "We decided to give the phrase 'value addition' a new meaning.

Now customers cannot only count on us to help them over a hump, but also look forward to gaining from the pecuniary extras on savings, credit cards and loan facilities - the news HNB way."
