DGE's Power Challenge and Dealer Meet a big success DeWalt and Delmege General Equipment (DGE) concluded yet another first in the power tools market in Sri Lanka, with their highly successful Power Challenge, which took place at the Arpico car park, Hyde Park Corner recently. Over 500 competitors took part in this unique endeavour, which involved driving in 5 nails into a piece of wood using a DeWalt cordless screwdriver. The event concluded at 4.30 p.m. amidst a large gathering. The finals were held at 5.00 p.m., followed by several musical acts performed by popular artistes. Competitors from varying walks of life took part in this event, with some of them even coming from outstations such as Kandy, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Hatton, Ampara, Galle, Matara and Ratnapura. Office executives working in and around Colombo too took time off their busy schedules to take part in the event. The first prize was a brand new Honda motorbicycle, and the second prize a cash award of Rs. 25,000 and the third also a cash award of Rs. 15,000. In addition, 8 other consolation prizes each worth Rs. 10,000 were also given away. The winner of the first prize was Mr. Ruwan Gunathilake, while the second prize was won by Mr. Sumith Nishantha, with the third prize going to Mr. Suranga Silva. The Power Challenge was followed by the Delmege General Equipment, DeWalt/ Black & Decker Dealer Meet which was held at the Colombo Plaza. This was the 3rd occasion in which an event of this magnitude was held with over 170 dealers being present. The chief guest was Mr. Paul D'Cruz, the Regional Commercial Director of DeWalt/Black and Decker Overseas AG, while the guest-of-honour was Mr. Shamil Mendis, Director Delmege Forsyth & Co. Ltd. |
