Cupids magic awaits you at a romantic Valentine's day, when the acknowledged pop band Mirage will be in love-action at the Ceylon Continental Hotel's special dinner dance on Saturday February 14 from 8 pm onwards. Mirage back from Dubai after a long and successful stay, comprises Donald the leader, Kamal, Melantha, Gavin and Chamal. Everybody knows the wide repertoire and artistry of the band in the contemporary pop idiom as well as in the evergreens and sophisticated selections from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Gold FM DJs too will be there at BBQ and Beer Garden with Rajiv, Stuart and Ralston spinning a special selection of love songs for sentimental memories. Tickets are reasonably priced with a dinner buffet that includes appetizing International food. What's more an evening like this quite naturally will include fabulous competitions and prizes for Valentine's King and Queen, Most Romantic Couple, Most Elegant Couple and more. Make sure you are with Mirage and Gold FM. Speaking with the accomplished leader/drummer Donald Pieris of Mirage, we learnt that the band is here to stay playing on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Molly's and on Fridays the band will be at the popular Clancy's. This augurs well for our music industry which was in dire need of some good musicians to rock the scene. "After playing back to back contracts for nine years, we decided to take a break quite naturally. We were very happy at the Marco Polo (Novotel) and despite all conflicting rumours you are hearing, we had no problems with the Management, nor are we a band that programmes our music. We have always played live," Donald expresses emphatically. Mirage at Molly's play a repertoire of 60s, 70s, and 80s while at Clancy's they go all out on a contemporary track with a selection of oldies thrown in. Give yourself a musical treat flavoured by Mirage.
