Music her first love

In the words of the now famous song by John Miles, music is Nelun Perera's first love and will continue to bring happiness throughout her life.

A pianist with a great deal of experience behind her, Nelun's versatility is amazing - not only in repertoire but also in rhythm styles. Quite naturally since she has the established base of a performer's certificate from the Associate of the Trinity College of Music, London (ATCL) and has won for herself a bronze medal for Grade V pianoforte.

Branching away from classics, Nelun decided on concentrating on the lighter side of music and was a popular pianist at many up market restaurants in the city playing for lunch and dinner time diners. Her wide repertoire includes the well-known high classical compositions, popular songs, ballads, show times country music, current favourites, oldies and war-time favourites, which has made her an instant hit.

A product of Methodist College, Colombo and tutored by leading lights like Grace Harvie, Canace Ekanayake, and Sita Perera Nelun says she enjoyed studying music and was greatful to her father and her mother, who was a music teacher, for all the inspiration and support showered on her. Now teaching music, singing and creative drama also at the Little Angels' Montessori, Nugegoda, Nelun's artistry has taken her to Sharajah when she taught music and was one time teaching at Ladies College, Colombo guiding the young in this creative field.

Her popularity has seen her entertaining many an audience at cocktail parties, private functions, book launches and weddings, and Nelun as she tells us, will be continuing her music playing and entertaining her many audiences, as well as teaching music at home which she does in her spare time. "Music makes me live' concludes Nelun with an engaging smile.
