Achela Ranasinghe (9 for 71) bowls Ananda to innings win over St. Anthony's by LESLIE FERNANDO Achela Ranasinghe, the Ananda College left-arm spinner caused havoc amongst the St. Anthony's College Katugastota batsmen to capture 7 for 27 to give his team a resounding innings and 17 runs victory in their inter-school cricket match concluded at Ananda Mawatha yesterday. Ranasinghe had 2 for 44 in the first innings which gave him a match-bag of 9 for 71. Antonians made 138 on Friday and Ananda were 240 for 6 and they declared at 273 for 9 just before lunch. Ananda added 33 runs losing three more wickets in the morning session. The Katugastota side, facing a deficit of 135 runs, once again fared poorly to extraordinary spell of bowling from Achela Ranasinghe who returned fine figures of 23.4 overs 13 maidens and had 7 for 27. The visitors collapsed for a paltry 118 off 65 overs. The match ended around 3.50 p.m. St. Anthony's 138 and 118 (M. I. M. Rislan 25, Pramod Fernando 35, R. P. Aldeket 16, A. Ranasinghe 7 for 27).
