Sri Lanka keen to promote cricket among the blind

A concerted effort is being made to popularise cricket for the blind in Sri Lanka.

Rienzie Benedict - Hony. President of the National Cricket Association of the Blind, Sri Lanka who represented Sri Lanka at the annual general meeting of the World Blind Cricket Council held in Sydney, Australia was somewhat encouraged with the work being done to promote the game in other countries.

At the world body meeting, somewhat an unique happening took place as Pakistan Blind Cricket Association was represented by proxy by the All India Cricket Association of the Blind as the Pakistan delegate was unable to attend the meeting.

Furthermore, the visually handicapped cricketers from India were scheduled to visit Pakistan for a five-match one-day international series last month.

In Sri Lanka anyone wishing to promote the game among the blind can contact the President of the association Rienzie Benedict at No. 74, Church Street, Colombo 2. (Tel: 94-11-2437768 or 94-11-2305256).
