'Oracle' to inspire e-governance initiative

by Hiran H. Senewiratne

Global ICT and management solutions provider, Oracle Corporation, offers solutions as well as proposals for Sri Lanka's e-governance initiative.

"We can provide a roadmap to Sri Lanka's e-governance requirements," said Regional Manager, Oracle- South Asia Growth Economies, Samina Rizwan.

She said the company had seen a software solution for products and services to suit Sri Lanka's requirement.

Since the country's economy is on the correct path with positive indicators, it had inspired foreigners to invest in Sri Lanka, she said.

"Oracle has excelled in e-governance; we are quite optimistic that we can play an important role in the e-Sri Lanka initiative, implemented by the government.

"Since the present trend is that the value proposition is moving from technology to service level. Oracle can provide software and hardware solutions for medium size companies covering all sectors. "The company would adopt the 'go to market model' strategy in Sri Lanka to attract market opportunities, specially in industrial, public, finance, manufacturing and telecom sectors",she said .

She had observed that Sri Lankan companies are now changing into a win-win situation, to which Oracle could contribute in a big way.

Oracle, being a value proposition than a product, would offer a complete solution package to customers and the synergy had been always possible with Oracle, she said.

With the opening of a liaison office in Colombo in March, it would mainly deal with business and banking solutions and e-governance consultant activities, she added.

Sri Lanka had an attractive business potential, being resilient to external and internal turbulent conditions and visa modalities for easy access to Sri Lanka, Rizwan said.

She said that Oracle would also help local customers with critical information solutions and modern technology.
