Iswan Omar who is the Secretary of Kandy Sports Club and the CPRFU said that the staging of this tournament will further cement the cordial relationship between the Kandy SC and the sports loving public who have been displaying tremendous support in the past.

According to the organisers twelve (12) teams have confirmed their participation and they are: Old Rajans, Old Antonians SC, Old Trinitians SC, Old Kingswoodians SC, Old Vidyarthians SC, Matale RFU, Polgolla RFU, Dambulla RFU, Dimbulla Planters SC, Nuwara Eliya SC, CPRFU Development Squad and Katugastota RFU. Notable absentees are the Old Sylvestrians SC and the University Sports Club.

The organisers have also arranged for various side matches to add spice to this tournament. Playing in the noon day heat will be the deadlier of the species in a womens exhibition match at 12 noon and this has been aimed at promoting rugby among the ladies. There will be another exhibition match between the men's over 35's and the Tight 5's.

The SLRFU Referees Society has agreed to the CPRFU Referees Society to handle the whistle in all the matches which will help them to a pre-season warm-up.
