'Daintee' to boost exports to India

Country's leading confectionery manufacturer, Daintee Ltd (DL), in a bid to boost its exports is planning to open more sales points in the main cities of India .

At present the company is having a sales point in Chennai, which was established in November last year, said Acting- Managing Director (AMD) S.I Jayakuru.

"We are studying the market pattern there with a view to establishing more sales points in India".

"Our Chennai branch does all sales networking for the company- marketing, distribution, promotion etc.

"The company would increase exports to India once the distribution network starts functioning in a proper form.

At least two containers of its products would be exported shortly to India for a month with one of them going to Chennai at present,he added.

"These products include 15 varieties of sweets and other forms of sugar confectioneries, which are available at the main Chennai sales outlets under the "Daintee" trademark.

The company manufacturers 60 varieties of products and it would increase its exports to India in a big way , if things go according to its plan. "All its products are fast moving both in Sri Lanka and India due to high quality standards.

The company is also venturing to market its products in Australia. It has a branch office in the United Kingdom as well.

The company has acquired the internationally famed brands like Milady, Benson and Chix from Barker and Dobson. These brands have been registered both in Sri Lanka and India .The brand Mr Bix is registered in Sri Lanka for snacks.

"The company was founded in 1984, and within 12 years, it was able to improve the quality to international standards.

"It is now working in collaboration with Barker and Dabson, a prestigious UK confectionery company renowned for exotic quality and high standards to enhance the quality of its products.

The group has been investing in the latest technology to manufacture a range of new products and today it leads the confectionery market in Sri Lanka.

The company has deployed over one hundred sales representatives and nine area managers to distribute its products islandwide through its agents and wholesales distributors, said Jayakuru .
